Wow. There are some books I regret not having read when I was younger so that I could have the joy of reading them again now that I'm older. This is one of those books. It's simply wonderful.

What an emotional ride this book takes the reader on! It's difficult to describe: humorous, bittersweet, lovely; evocative of perfect English summer days and the perilous emotions of growing up.
The last paragraph is the epitome of simple, profound beauty.
